Monarchs in Space
Last November we joined an intergalactic science experiment called Monarchs in Space. The students were kept busy wondering what will happen to the monarchs as they make their way out of this orbit. Click here to see how things went in our classrooms. Click here to learn more about the Monarchs in Space program, sponsored by Monarch Watch.

Who Borrowed Mr. Bear?
In October we observed a "crime scene" in the classroom: 2P, 2B
We discussed four questions:

After writing down our own answers to these questions, we observed the crime scene and recorded our observations.

We read a story which describes the day of the crime "Who Borrowed Mr. Bear" took place. We are using our forensic science skills to deduce who borrowed Mr. Bear. After days of scientific examination we will decide which suspects look guilty. We are being careful to examine all the evidence so we don't follow a "red herring." Please ask your child to share with you how we are solving the mystery "Who Borrowed Mr. Bear" and whodunit.

Here are links which show our work...

Butterflies!
Monarch larva have been replaced with mealworms on our desks. We will check back in with the monarchs next spring when they return to Minnesota after wintering in Mexico.
